I had listened one podcast:
«Do Banks Do God's Work?» at BBC Word Service, broadcast Wednesday 23rd December 2009

I had an aim to self-assess what skills do I have to listening tasks, especially how I can understand the authentic speech.
It wasn’t easy for me to understand speakers. I had to listen to podcast twice, and sometimes, where the vocabulary was hard to recognize, five times for the complete understanding. The rate of podcast presenter's speech was TOO fast. I could hardly understand the meaning of many words. This project helped me to understand that my vocabulary isn’t good enough. I should learn more professional words and listen to more native speakers. Practice makes perfectJ
And now, some words about the podcast. Speakers discussed the role of banks, their functions and tried to answer the question “Do the banks do God’s work?” . Bankers are sure that they perform an important social function. There are many social programs for people. So, we really can say that banks do God’s work.
